It was years when The Daddy Daycare movie was out. Back then I saw the movie as a ‘Family Get Together’ kind-of movie.

Now I am seeing the movie in a different light and from a different prespective. I see Daddy Daycare as a Lesson to be learnt by Newly Established Entrepreneurs (and newly parents who joined the ParentHood Club ;)) Here are some Key Points I learned from the movie:-

1. FEAR
We are so used to the security of having a safety net placed below our feet (receiving salary each month as an employee) in the Wild Wild Jungle (9 to 5 work environment) out there.

We are so confortable in our comfortzone that we are literally afraid of something new or something different, it feels OUT OF THE NORM to us. Thus, we develop :-

1. FEAR of uncertainty
2. FEAR of Failure
3. FEAR of experimenting with something new
4. FEAR of challanges and facing unfamiliar territories
5. FEAR of staring somewhere new

In the movie, Eddie Murphy plays a  character of a Work-ka-holic Father who works endless hours for a Food Manufacturer who manufactures Cereals for Children. He works more than the usual 9 to 5 hours but less time with the loved ones. He is investing his time building a career and professional development for his Home. But a Home that he seldom lives in. He comes home from Work and has to bring work home (talk about Home-Work 😂) and his time at home is focused on Work and paying the bills.

After his department was down-sized than only did he realised that the safety net was pulled right under his feet. Because he invested so much time sewing the safety-net that he did not have time to think of PLAN B. “What if the net no longer exsisted, should I get a parachute?” 😱

2. SEE A NEED, FILL A NEED
Eddie Murphy (in the play) was thinking of ways on how to earn income from home as he had to take care of Home and also take care of his little boy. At this stage, you can see the DNA of an Entrepreneur slowly growing and crashing into each other to spark an Idea. Than the Idea was formed when He was at the park observing mothers who had to take their children to the park. And listening to the sourroundings on how Mothers were looking for a daycare that was within the comfort of the neighbourhood. That Idea soon became a Reality.

3. PASSION
After many ups and downs, many trials and errors, Daddy Daycare was soon growing, from a few kids to 10 kids, then to 12 kids then to 15 kids. The word got around and then they were beating the competition. Daddy Daycare was built on a foundation of Passion. If you have PASSION you can do anything, nothing in your way could stop you. Even if it means having a mean offer to return back to work with a whole new job description, higher pay and being head of department 😇 Yes! Its true, that temption is out there. There are times you might doubt yourself. But if being an Entrepreneur is already in your DNA, already apart of your flesh. Then nothing can change your mind.

If if Eddie Murphy (in the movie) return to work with a new offer. That very first day he knew within himself (betcha he could feel it in his bones) that his heart was being the Founder & CEO of Daddy Daycare. Because he believed in his Mission, Vission and Core Values.

4. VISION
Having a clear picture of what you wanna do, what you wanna be, what your company will be apart of, the foundation of your company all lies within the Vision that you have. Your sub-consious mind is more powerful than you could ever imagine.

5. PLAN
Plan while you are ahead?
Execution is very important and same goes with planning. For the end result that you desire, ensure that you do planning, brainstorming, survey, research and development before rolling the ball.

The ending of the movie is really inspiring. In real world, business and companies around the world go through upa and downs. Its making sure that you have enough passion, determination and motivation to girl from the starting line to the finish line.

Above all, having the right MINDSET and ATTITUDE is also a MAJOR contributor to the development of your company. Your company cannot grow it your are not willing to run that extra mile.

Till we next time.
